Warm, golden, and full of flavor, these cheesy chive biscuits come together quickly with the help of a homemade baking mix—or a store-bought shortcut like Bisquick. Sharp cheddar melts into the dough, while fresh chives (or green onion tops) add a delicate oniony bite. Brushed with garlic butter straight from the oven, these biscuits are irresistibly soft inside with lightly crisp edges—perfect alongside soup, salad, or Sunday brunch.
INGREDIENTS:
Biscuits
2 1/2 cups baking mix (homemade or Bisquick)
3/4 cup cold whole milk
4 tablespoons cold butter, cut into small pieces
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon minced chives or green onion tops
Topping
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1/4 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Pinch salt
METHOD:
Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, cut the cold butter into the baking mix using a pastry cutter or fork until pea-sized pieces remain.
Stir in cheddar cheese, milk, and 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder just until the dough comes together—do not over-mix.
Using a scoop or large spoon, drop 1/4-cup portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 15–17 minutes, until the tops are golden brown.
While biscuits bake, melt 3 tablespoons butter. Stir in parsley, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt.
Brush hot biscuits with the garlic butter topping as soon as they come out of the oven.
YIELD: Makes one dozen biscuits.
