Banana Orange Smoothie

This creamy, citrusy smoothie is sunshine in a glass! Fresh orange juice adds brightness, while ripe banana and buttermilk lend a velvety texture and gentle tang. Lightly sweetened with honey and a touch of vanilla, it’s a quick and nourishing drink that’s perfect for breakfast, a mid-afternoon pick-me-up, or a refreshing post-workout treat.

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup buttermilk, well shaken
1 cup fresh orange juice
1/2 very ripe banana
1 tablespoon honey or sugar (more or less, depending on your personal taste)

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
A handful of ice cubes

METHOD:

Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend on high speed until smooth, creamy, and frothy.

Taste and adjust sweetness, if desired.

Pour into glasses and serve immediately while cold and refreshing.

VARIATIONS:

  • Add fresh or frozen fruits such as peaches, strawberries, blueberries, or mango.
  • For a dairy-free option, substitute coconut milk or almond milk for the buttermilk.
  • Add a few tablespoons of rolled oats or chia seeds for a heartier smoothie.
