The Aptos Farmers Market at Cabrillo College has always been a hub for community, fresh food, and inspiration. Now, it’s also a place to share the joy of cooking and gardening through our Cookbook and Gardening Book Exchange!
The idea is simple: bring a gently used cookbook or gardening book to donate, and pick up something new to explore. Whether you’re looking for a classic baking book, a guide to growing tomatoes, or a collection of international recipes, you never know what gems you might discover.
Book exchanges aren’t a new idea—Andrew Carnegie first introduced the concept of public lending libraries in the early 1900s—but we’re delighted to bring a farmers market twist to the tradition. This program is a way for market customers to share their favorite reads, inspire each other in the kitchen and garden, and keep books circulating in our community instead of gathering dust on a shelf.
You’ll find the book exchange shelves next to our information table on the middle level of the market. Just drop off your cookbook or gardening book, browse the shelves, and take home something fresh to read. It’s free, it’s simple, and it’s one more way to connect with your neighbors over a shared love of food and growing.
So next time you visit the market, tuck an extra book into your basket along with your shopping list. Together we can keep the exchange lively, inspiring, and a little bit surprising — just like the market itself!
Would you like me to also create a short social media version of this—something punchy and inviting for Facebook/Instagram posts?
