Pomegranates
Many scholars believe that the forbidden fruit that Eve could not resist was a pomegranate, not an apple. The name comes from Middle French, pomme garnete, which means ‘seeded apple.’ Whether you enjoy snacking on the tangy, juicy arils (seeds) or sipping a glass of juice, pomegranates are one of the healthiest foods you can eat! ✨A Special Request from Our Farmers Market Family✨
As many of you know, the farmers and vendors of the Monterey Bay Certified Farmers Market have always been more than a community—we’re a family. For years, we’ve supported one another through life’s joys and challenges, and today, we’re reaching out to you for help with something close to our hearts.
Lynne Bottazzo, our beloved ‘bee lady’ from Amen Bee Products, has a grandson named Giovanni who was diagnosed at just 3 months old with Usher’s Syndrome—a condition that causes both deafness and blindness. Despite this daunting diagnosis, there is hope.
Boston Children’s Hospital recently approved the Pipeline for Usher Syndrome Research (PUSH) study, dedicated to finding effective treatments and, one day, a cure for this life-altering syndrome. Giovanni’s specific type of Usher’s Syndrome will be included in this groundbreaking research.
We humbly ask: would you consider making a donation to this critical cause? Your support will directly fund the research necessary to develop therapies that could preserve sight and hearing for children like Giovanni. Every contribution brings us closer to a future where these children can experience the world in all its fullness.
To learn more or to contribute, simply scan the QR code (in photos above 👆) with your camera or click the link below.
From all of us at the farmers market, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and for being part of this incredible family. Together, we can create a brighter future for Giovanni and so many others.
Your gift today is the promise of hope for tomorrow.
