This panini takes the classic ham-and-cheese sandwich and gives it a gourmet twist. Sweet, juicy pear slices balance the savory ham and creamy Havarti, while honey mustard adds just the right tang. Pressed until golden and crisp, the result is a sandwich that’s simple to make yet feels special—perfect for lunch, a light dinner, or even as a cozy weekend treat alongside a bowl of soup.
INGREDIENTS:
4 slices Ciabatta bread
1 tablespoon honey mustard
6 slices thinly slice ham
1 ripe pear, peeled and thinly sliced
2 dashes ground black pepper
4 slices Havarti cheese
1 tablespoon softened butter
METHOD:
Heat a panini press (or a large skillet with a heavy lid or second skillet for pressing).
Spread honey mustard on 2 slices of bread. Layer each with 3 slices ham, half of the pear slices, a dash of pepper, and 2 slices of Havarti. Top with remaining bread slices.
Spread softened butter lightly on the outer sides of each sandwich.
Place sandwiches in the panini press and cook until bread is golden and crisp and cheese has melted, 4–6 minutes. If using a skillet, press with a heavy lid or skillet and flip halfway through.
Cut each sandwich in half and serve warm.
YIELD: 2 sandwiches
