Asian Style Broccolini

This Asian-Style Broccolini is a quick and flavorful side dish that perfectly balances savory, sweet, and aromatic notes. Tender-crisp broccolini is blanched to bright green perfection, then finished with a glossy oyster sauce infused with sesame, sherry, and a hint of sweetness. It’s a beautiful complement to grilled meats, rice bowls, or noodle dishes—and comes together in minutes for an effortless touch of restaurant-quality flavor at home.

INGREDIENTS:

2 tablespoons oyster sauce
2 tablespoons chicken broth
1 tablespoon dry sherry
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
2-3 bunches broccolini
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon peanut oil

METHOD:

In a small saucepan, combine the oyster sauce, chicken broth, sherry, sugar, and sesame oil. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, whisking until the sugar dissolves and the sauce slightly thickens. Remove from heat and keep warm.

Bring 3 to 4 quarts of water to a boil in a large pot. Add salt and peanut oil.

Add the broccolini and cook for about 3 minutes, until bright green and tender-crisp.

Drain immediately in a colander and shake off excess water. For best texture, serve the broccolini warm or at room temperature.

Arrange broccolini on a platter and drizzle with the warm sauce. Serve immediately.

YIELD: Makes 4-6 servings
