Save money and make your own flavored almonds! Serve these spicy almonds warm with your favorite icy-cold beer!
INGREDIENTS:
1 tablespoon ground chipotle chili pepper
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon coarse salt
1 1/2 cups whole natural almonds
1 tablespoon almond oil
METHOD:
Stir together chipotle chili pepper, sugar, and salt in a small bowl, and set aside.
Heat almonds and almond oil in a large skillet on medium-high heat, stirring and shaking the pan occasionally until the almond skins are “popping” and the almonds are fragrant.
Turn heat to medium-low and stir in the chipotle mixture; heat and shake the skillet for about 30 seconds, to release chipotle oil.
Transfer to a bowl and let cool just slightly before serving warm.
YIELD: Makes 1 1/2 cups
